Binary builds are way out of date and development is moving quickly.

There is a community supported Homebrew tap.

brew tap metacollin/kicad

brew install kicad

Yay!

There is now an install script located here: scripts/kicad-install.sh which installs all dependencies and compiles and installs KiCad.
