Several people have expressed interest in numerous projects involving CNC tools, including printers that use alternative materials, laser cutters/engraving, milling/routing etc.
I propose a generic assembly be constructed that can easily take multiple head types and provide 2/3 axis movement based on arduino (RAMPS based?) control.
This can then be used for multiple projects with overlapping requirements by hot-swapping the head.
I have a completed hardware BOM for the below frame, utilising standard aluminium T-slot extrusion and ebay-sourced rails & screws. Supports & brackets are 3D printed. I have not allowed for any electronics, driving circuitry etc. but the proposal is to use a standard PC power supply.
